Step Six - Where to find a breeder?

Finding a breeder?

Once you’ve decided on a breed, and have researched your chosen breed thoroughly, it is time to find a reputable breeder. Good breeders can be found any number of ways – following is a short list of venues:

  • On this website
  • The Kennel Club lists puppy sales registers.
  • The Kennel Club can recommend good breeders through breed clubs
  • Breed clubs can also be found within the directories of dog magazines, such as Dogs Monthly, Dogs Today and Your Dog, just to mention a few
  • Breed clubs, kennels and breed enthusiasts can also be found on the Internet
  • Dog-related shows and events, veterinary surgeries and dog trainers may also have information on good, responsible breeders

Again, keep in mind that breed enthusiasts love to talk about their dogs. Don’t be afraid to approach a stranger with a breed in which you are considering to ask them about breeders and clubs, or to use the telephone numbers and email addresses provided in print publications and web sites – people offer their details for this very reason, and enjoy knowing that a good match may be made between dog and owner.

You can also view the quality puppy breeders, that that are in alignment with our Responsible Dog Ownership Philosophy, and their litters of puppies currently available.
